Carpets are made of fiber whether synthetic or natural and they acquire soil, smells and stains in many ways. Children and pets are a huge factor in how often you should have your carpets cleaned. Cooking also adds to the soiling of your carpets, furniture and drapes. If you do a lot of frying in your kitchen, the oils atomize into the air and are circulated throughout. Anything that has fabric in your home will capture these soils. These are the most crucial areas to be cleaned on a regular basis. Family room, Stairways and Hallways. These 3 get more traffic than any other in your home, townhouse, condo or apartment. Bed rooms Dens and basements should be done anywhere from every 2 to 3 years, again depending on the traffic. Your whole home should be done every 5 years. Since most wall-to-wall carpeting is plastic, when the sunlight hits them, they oxidize and off-gas. The oxidation leaves the carpet with a dull film coating even though the room is never used. Keep in mind your windows will get coated with this off-gassing the same as inside your car windshield. Just a reminder we clean windows too!

Furniture should be looked at the same way. Couches are used much like the bed in your home. The difference is we all eat on our couches. We watch shows, sporting events or just plain relax on them 365 days a year. We even sleep on them when we are sick or not feeling well. How many times do you think someone in your family has sneezed, including your pet, on that furniture? Now you can have a better understanding of why you would need to have furniture cleaned on a regular basis.

How Often Should You Clean Your Floors, Tile, Windows & Exterior?

Know The Right Schedule To Keep Everything Looking Its Best

To see if your tile and grout are in need of cleaning, the best way is to look at the edges of your tile grout. You should see what the grout used to look like and, in the middle, how bad it really is. Having them professionally steam cleaned can go anywhere from 1 to 3 years depending on the traffic. Each cleaning we will reseal the grout unless the grout has a sealing agent already included. Unless you know, it is the only way we will know. If you are not sure, the grout should be resealed.

Wood floors should be done anywhere from 2 to 3 years and all the floors done every 6 years. Kitchen floors, especially ones with pets, should be done every 2 years. Their claws can do a lot to remove the finish of a wood floor.

Windows and Power washing. We live in an incredibly beautiful area and your windows are your view to that outside beauty. The light they bring in every day is what enhances the beauty and invigorates everyone in the home. Some customers have their windows cleaned once a year, others twice, and even 3 times a year! Once a year is the standard but I have some customers that like that spring and fall cleaning but save money in the fall by doing only the outside. Power washing should be done at least every 3 years. Yearly mowing, pollen drops, bird nest and mud wasps help to dirty up your home on a regular basis. No matter what, walls that face the north need that more than the other sides. If you have vinyl siding, don't forget about the oxidation! A good house wash will help brighten them up!
